On July 15, 2010, in the Chamber of Accounts of the Russian Federation, a meeting took place between the leaders of the Russian Orthodox Church and the Chamber of Accounts, dedicated to the mutual council on Coordination, reports Patriarchia.ru.
The council was formed on June 10, 2010, for the purpose of cooperation between the Russian Orthodox Church and the Chamber of Accounts of the Russian Federation. This cooperation includes coordination of mutual activity and exchange of information on both sides.
Among the subjects touched upon during the meeting were: plans to activate discussions on social issues, including the war on corruption, support in the field of restoration, maintaining and guarding cultural monuments, and support for socially oriented non-profit organizations. The subject of various projects in scientific and cultural spheres was also brought up.
Participating in the meeting from the Russian Orthodox Church were: Archbishop Archbishop Mark of Yegoryevsk, Moscow Patriarchate secretary for institutions abroad; Bishop Tikhon of Podolsk, Moscow Patriarchate’s director for economy and finance; and Archpriest Vsevolod Chaplin, head of the department for Church-society relations. From the Chamber of Accounts was: auditors S. N. Ryabukhin, S. A. Agaptsov, A. I. Zhdankov, S. N. Movchan, M. V. Odintsov, A. A. Piskunov, assistant to chairman of the Chamber of Accounts, E. A. Agapova, and director of the department of support for the structure of the Chamber of Account, V. I. Melimuk.
The first official meeting of the Coordination council is planned for fall of 2010, reports the service for regional department for Church-society relations.
