London, July 29, 2013
The celebration on the occasion of 1025th anniversary of Baptism of Russia took place in London near the monument to Holy Prince Vladimir the Great.
Britons of Ukrainian descent, Ukrainian students, businessmen and diplomats attended the festive event near the premises of the Diplomatic representation, reports Interfax-Religion with the reference to the embassy of the Ukraine in London.
"1025 years ago our ancestors made their first civilized choice in favor of European values, joining the Christian world," said the ambassador of the Ukraine in Great Britain and Northern Ireland Vladimir Handogiy during the event.
"Today the Ukraine is confirming its choice, taking the course on European integration. The signing of the Association Agreement between the Ukraine and the EU at the Vilnius Summit of Eastern partnership is a logical step in this direction," he added.
The monument to Vladimir the Great in London was erected in commemoration of the 1000th anniversary of Baptism of the Kievan Rus on May 29, 1988.
