With the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia Orthodox volunteers who took part in the organization of the celebrations of the 700th anniversary of St. Sergius of Radonezh, as well as Sisters of Charity (nurses) have visited those injured in the Moscow subway accident that happened on July 15, 2014, reports Patriarchia.ru.
The volunteers and nurses have visited over 100 victims of the catastrophe in the capital’s subway — called “the Metro” — undergoing medical treatment in 14 Moscow hospitals. During their visit the volunteers passed on to the patients a blessing from His Holiness Patriarch Kirill with his wishes for their speedy recovery, and gave them patriarchal presents. The Orthodox volunteers gave the accident victims icons, prayer-books, blessed oil, and Orthodox literature.
The volunteers talked with the patients in Moscow hospitals who were injured in the Metro accident, and recounted the celebrations of the 700th anniversary of the birth of St. Sergius of Radonezh to them.
