Bishop Leonid of Turaw and Mazyr (the Exarchate of Belarus) has consecrated the Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker in the village of Tonezh situated in the Gomel region of Belarus.
The memorial church has been erected on the site of the original one, which was burned down by Nazis in 1943. 262 residents (including 108 children aged under 16) were burned alive inside that church, reports Sedmitza.ru with the reference to Interfax-Religion.
Funds for the restored church were raised by Tonezh residents, local and regional authorities, and sponsors, while students of the Belarusian State Academy of Arts and painters helped paint the icons.
